This faculty learning community offers participants the opportunity to network and collaborate with junior faculty from across the university to enhance teaching and scholarly engagement on issues associated with responsibilities as a junior faculty member at Cal Poly. Participants in the community will work collaboratively to build individual and group learning outcomes. Selected participants are led by a facilitator and paid a $500 stipend upon successful completion of their role as community members.
Duration: 2009-10 academic year beginning in October 2009 and ending finals week of Spring 2010 quarter.
Eligibility: Full-time, probationary faculty in tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor as of September 2009. Selected participants will need approval from department chair.
Meetings: Every other week for two hours, starting the week of October 5 and ending finals week of the Spring 2009 quarter.
Times: A time that is free in the schedules of all selected participants.
Selection: A committee of organizers associated with the Junior Faculty Learning Community (JFLC) through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Criteria for selection include: Commitment to quality teaching and scholarly engagement, level of interest in the program, and potential for contributions to the program. Please keep these selection criteria in mind as you complete the application. Participants will be chosen to create a diverse group representing a variety of disciplines, experiences, and needs.
Stipend: $500 upon completion of learning community responsibilities.
