Making Accessible Presentations in Powerpoint:Mac 2008


New presentation started in Microsoft Powerpoint:Mac 2008.

Writing your Microsoft Powerpoint 2008 presentations in the Outline view, adding captions to all of your images, and adding metadata to the end of your presentation makes them accessible to screen-readers and users with disabilities.

  1. To write accessible presentations in Microsoft Powerpoint 2003, make sure you are in the Normal view and click the Outline tab at the left of the screen.

  1. Type in the title of your presentation.
  2. Type option + return whenever you need to denote to a subtitle or paragraph.
  3. Type option + return to start a new slide.

  1. All images need a caption to help those with seeing disabilities. To give an image captions, select the Picture with Caption layout from the Elements Gallery.

  1. Type your caption as if it were a paragraph or subtitle. Remember to keep your captions short and down to the point.

  1. Give your presentation metadata by going to File and then select the Properties tool.

  1. In the Summary tab of the Presentation Properties window, type the applicable information of your presentation into its specific box, and then click OK.
