Creating Accessible Microsoft Word 2007 Documents (Windows)

The California State University's Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) reflects the CSU's ongoing commitment to providing accessible instructional materials to all students regardless of their disability status. Providing accessible instructional materials for your classes can benefit all of your students and remove the barriers they may face when trying to obtain course content.

The first part of this workshop will address the general guidelines for creating accessible instructional materials. The second part will be a hands-on session to actively learn the step-by-step process for creating accessible Microsoft Word 2007 documents followed by a lesson on how to convert such documents into accessible PDFs with Acrobat Professional 8.

Note: Since this hands-on process of making Microsoft Word documents accessible is quite different for the Windows and Macintosh platforms, a future workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14 from 3:00 - 4:00 PM in 35-510B.

Wikis and Blogs in Blackboard 8

Are you wondering what a Wiki or Blog can do to support your teaching and learning needs? What is a Wiki or Blog anyway? Come and learn the basics. In this session we will explain and show both the Wiki and Blog tools in Blackboard. We will provide some tips and tricks for using the Wiki and Blog tools and show some examples of how faculty have used them. If you're interested in providing tools that allow your students to keep a journal or work in collaborative groups for short periods of time or quarter-long projects, this session is for you. Even if you're not ready to use the tools just yet but you're interested in seeing how people have used them in the past, this session is for you too!
